Fall Proof Your Wardrobe

I don’t know how many ladies are with me on this, but Fall is my favorite season! I’m completely against cold weather, but I LOVE the clothes. You can use a variety of different pieces to put together a “poppin” outfit, from hats to jackets to boots. Versus in the summer time the goal is to wear as little clothes as possible in hopes to sweat less and still manage to look cute. Here are some tips and in-season styles for this Fall:

Majority of today’s looks have been done in the past, but that’s fine! The trends are back like they never left (insert emoji). One of my favorite oldies that is making a comeback is th439b28658a66dc272a546af11109b48ee choker. I, personally, love jewelry and chokers give an edgy-look to an outfit. With chokers you want to make sure you wear them with pieces that draw attention to your neck since they are close-fitting necklaces. You can dress up or down any outfit with a choker, and who doesn’t love versatility?!

Another oldie but goody is round sunglasses and big specs. From someone who has been wearing glasses since the 3rd grade, glasses are apart of my everyday look. Big glasses have gone from nerdy to fashionable. The best thing about glasses and shades is that they come in so many shapes, sizes, and colors. A royal blue frame in the fall… tell me that doesn’t sound like a fashion frenzy! Medium-sized clear frames are really killing the game right now. Also, a tip for all my GWG’s (Gals With Glasses) out there… contacts and non-perscription glasses!

A must-have for the fall is a leather jacket. If you are a fan of street fashion, then this isn’t news to you. Leather jackets add a bit of spice to your wardrobe. Now, I know leather jackets are not always cheap if you’re looking for the high-end material, but Macy’s, H&M, ASOS, Urban Outfitters, and Nordsimagestorm Rack have some good options to choose from to get a bang for your buck.

My all-time favorite jackets are bomber jackets and trench coats. Bomber jackets made a huge appearance last Fall. They solidify a casual look. I have yet to see someone dress up a bomber jack, but a pair of suede ankle boots can definitely turn heads. A trench coat is Fashion’s Superwoman cape. They will never go out of style. Trench coats can make a casual look, clean and sophisticated. Everyone needs room for a bit of Nancy Drew in their closet.

3.  TOPS

A closet essential is a plain white t-shirt. Crew neck or V-neck, white t-shirts are your friends… unless when eating out and you eat like a 4-year-old, like myself. White t-shirts are convenient due to the fact that you can wear the same shirt with sweat pants or dress it up to go out with friends.

Two new appealing pieces that have made a killing during the summer and can rollover into the fall are off-the-shoudler shirts and bralettes. Off-the-shoulder shirts show a little skin, but not too much. There are many off-the-shoulder styled shirts: crop tops, button ups, flannels, and pull-overs. Some bralette styles can be worn alone, but for the colder weather you can wear it underneath see through or draped pieces.

Jeans make the world go ’round, that is a given fact. Some trendy styles are the boyfriend jean, distressed, and ankle rise jeans. The boyfriend jean is the modern day “mom jean,” the ultimagesimate causal jean. A bodysuit would have to be my favorite piece to style with boyfriend jeans. The form-fitting bodysuit shows off one’s figure, while the jeans give it a more relaxed look. Distressed jeans are a definite DO! They give an outfit such an edgy look that is irresistible. Distressed jeans go great with a leather jacket, they are basically a match made in heaven. As for ankle rise jeans, they are the new and improved “high waters.” These jeans can be pieced with ankle boots or sneakers.

Shoes make an entire outfit work. They are the determinate factor for a “hot or not.” The shoe you wear depends solely on the outfit, and if you are trying to dress it up or down. Some shoes that are in-style consist of: Adidas Stan Smiths, Adidas Superstars (a.k.a Shelltoes), slip-on sneakers, biker boots, loafers, knee-high boots, Chelsea boots, and single strap heels. There is no DO or DON’T when it comes to shoes, it is all about looks and how the shoe compliments or takes away from the outfit. Shoes pull the outfit together, it is that “final touch.”

Some fashionable people to keep an eye out for this season: Gigi Hadid, Sarah Jessica Parker, Zendaya, Kendall Jenner, Rihanna, Anne Hathaway, Beyonce, Teyana Taylor, Slick Woods, and the list goes on!
