Getting Over Fears and Insecurities

“It’s OKAY to be scared. Being scared means your about to do something really really brave” – Mandy Hale

At some point in our lives, we have all been afraid of doing something or felt like we were not good enough to go for what we want. You know that feeling where your palms are sweaty, you probably have butterflies in your stomach, and you feel like your heart is about to jump out your throat. The feeling of fear is completely normal. Feeling afraid is a mechanism of defense our bodies go into in order to protect ourselves from what is about to happen. It is always good to have some fear; however an excessive amount can definitely have some long term effects on you.

no fear zone

  • It is important to identify your fears and insecurities because that is the first step in helping yourself.
  • Take some time yourself and jot down every fear you have ever had. This could mean anything from fear of relationships to fear of clowns. By seeing your issues on paper, you’re able to handle them much better.
  • Take some time to jot down what makes you happy. It is one thing to talk about what you’re afraid off, but in order to gain improvement, you need to also mention what you are not afraid off.
  • Take time out to jot down why you have these fears. Self-awareness is step one and self-analysis is step two.
  • The best way to get over self-doubt is to remember what you are good at.
  • Find your strengths and play with those.
  • Take time to remind yourself of your strengths because that re-instills the confidence back into your life.
  • When you’re having a bad feeling about something, jot down 3 good things that could come about if you got over your fears. Sometimes the fear of failure can hold us back on success.
  • Understand that nothing is wrong with you and if anybody has anything different to say, FORGET THEM.
  • Sometimes the people in our lives are the main ones who make us insecure.
  • Check out our blog on how to deal with those people “Life Detox: How to Get Rid of Toxic People
  • Take time out to tell your problems to someone you trust. Having someone listen to your problems helps makes you realize that you are not alone.
  • If you want to go for something, go for it.
  • Have a journal saved for your goals.
  • Every time you come across the chance to take an opportunity, refer back to your journal as a reminder that you can do it.
  • Goal setting can give you some direction and force you to step out your comfort zone to accomplish that goal.
  • Live a healthy life.
  • Believe it or not, but your diet has a lot to do with how you handle situations
  • A healthy lifestyle can lighten up your mood and make you feel more relaxed.

The mind can either make or break us. The idea of fear is an internal struggle and not much to do with the reality of life. What if someone told you that you could do anything you’ve ever wanted? Would you still have doubts? Life if about growing, trusting, failing, and learning from your mistakes. If you never work on getting over your fears, then you won’t ever be able to progress in life.

“Don’t let fear or insecurity stop you from trying new things. Believe in yourself. Do what you love. And most importantly, be kind to others, even if you don’t like them”.- Stacy London
