Exfoliate. According to Cosmo, exfoliating is an absolute must since it boosts radiance, evens skin tone, unclogs pores, and diminishes fine lines. The best way to exfoliate is to find a scrub that works for your skin type and massage into the skin in circular motions, making sure to focus on your problem areas like the T-zone, cheeks, and chin. Check out our homemade sugar scrub here. Or you can use a non-abrasive exfoliating pad with your regular cleanser, I use lemongrass black soap as my exfoliating agent. Then rinse with warm water.

Wash. You should wash your face every day, twice daily if you have oily skin. Experts state that you should was your face with a mild, creamy formula (for dry skin), a cleanser with salicylic acid (for oily skin), or water soluble formula for normal skin at night in the shower since the steam helps to open pores and the cleanser can penetrate farther and then in the morning rinse with warm water.

Moisturize. Moisturizers should be added to damp skin and massaged to increase circulation and boost the benefits of the moisturizer. I personally use only natural ingredients like whipped raw shea butter and vitamin E oil. You can use whatever moisturizer works best, just make sure to tighten the lid of the container when you are done to prevent oxidation, which can decrease potency.

Protect. Obviously, we are exposed to more sunlight in the summer time because we love to be outdoors more often. It’s best to protect your skin whether you are going to be outside for 30 minutes or majority of the day. Cosmo suggests, putting sunscreen on 15 to 30 minutes prior to going out and reapply about every 2 hours.

The last thing you want to be worrying about on the Fourth of July is whether or not you have that summer glow. Your skin is an essential part to you party attire, so be sure to take great care of it. Let these tips and more from Cosmo’s Sexiest Beauty Secrets guide you to your best outer self!
